How We Met
Jordan and I met through mutual friends in 2015. Although my best friend kept telling me how cute her boyfriend’s roommate was, I wasn’t interested. Everything changed when we saw each other in person during a coincidental run-in at the gym. I barely even managed to speak to him. Soon, we became inseparable. In April 2015, Jordan “officially” asked me to be his girlfriend and on New Years Eve the same year, he asked me to be his wife.
how they asked
New Years has always been my favorite holiday. There’s something so magical about spending the last moments of the year and first moments of the new year with your loved ones. This New Year was extra magical! Jordan had been having secret conversations with my best friend and family for months about proposing to me on New Years, and I had no idea. I got ready with my best friend for what I thought was a casual New Years Eve party with Jordan’s family. We ate, watched football, and counted down the minutes until midnight. A few minutes before the ball dropped, we all moved to the family room in front of the TV. I was intently focused on the screen when Jordan wrapped his arm around my waist and led me to the french doors leading to the porch outside. As he led me out the door, I saw a white bench waiting and the deck strung with lights. Jordan asked me to sit down, and I barely squeaked out an “okay.” Jordan dropped to his knee and asked, “Will you marry me?” I said yes and wrapped my arms around him before he finished the question. Family members ran up for hugs and congratulations. We made it back inside the house just as the countdown to midnight began. At 12:00, we ended and began the year as future husband and wife!
