How We Met
Jimmy and I first met when I was a server at a local bar and grill. I remember him coming up for dinner and drinks with his mom and thinking “Wow, I’d like to get to know him.” Weeks later, he messaged me on Facebook and the rest is history.
how they asked
For those that know Jimmy, he is a total romantic. Flowers and champagne have been the norm for him, always setting the bar high and making me feel like the most special girl in the world since the beginning of our relationship.
I’m a nurse so after working three 12-hour night shifts, I naturally came home and wanted to go straight to bed. Jimmy told me that we had plans to go to Terhune Orchards later in the day and that I should nap for a few hours, and start getting ready. Terhune Orchards is a small farm in Princeton, NJ packed with tons of fall activities including pumpkin picking and wine tasting in a barn. It was one of the very first dates we went on when we first started dating and just like most girls, I LOVE the fall so I was super excited. On our way to Terhune, James said “I wonder if today is the same day that we originally went here, 3 years ago.” I looked back on Instagram and it was one day off, so crazy!
When we arrived at Terhune, it was packed. We went straight to the wine tasting and looking back, he chugged that first glass! We headed toward the pumpkin patch and Jimmy grabbed my hand and started to direct me. After a few minutes of walking through the pumpkin patch and thinking to myself “are we going to even pick a pumpkin?”, he led me to a display of pumpkins in the shape of a heart with a sign that had the picture of us at the same spot, 3 years ago. Along with the picture, the sign read “Brianna Elizabeth, Will You Marry Me?” Before he could even get down on one knee, I started crying. He pulled the ring out of his boot (crazy that I didn’t notice it), got down on one knee, and asked me the easiest question I ever had to answer. I was in complete shock. It was, by far, the happiest moment of my life.
The whole crowd of pumpkin-pickers started clapping for us and congratulating us. Both of our sisters were there capturing the moment, which made it even more special. They whipped out 10 different nail polishes from their purses, knowing that I’m not allowed to have my nails painted for work (total bridesmaid move) and painted my nails in the middle of the pumpkin patch.
We left Terhune and I couldn’t wait to share the news with everyone. After making tons of phone calls, we finally arrived at his parent’s house where I was completely surprised (again) to see both of our families waiting by the front door wearing light-up rings and greeting us with champagne and the most thoughtful gifts. The whole house was decked out with everything engagement. It was truly the BEST day of my life and I am forever grateful for everyone that helped make it possible.
Jimmy, I love you with all of my heart and I cannot wait for the day that I become your wife. You are, without a doubt, my best and truest friend. I am so thankful for the life we share together and I look forward to all of the memories that have yet to come.
