How We Met

We dated our senior year of high school for a couple months. It was nothing spectacular but he was always in the back of my mind.

how they asked

We went to breakfast with his dad and sister, who was home for winter break from school in Sacramento, and they had afternoon plans that I wasn’t invited to. I thought this was weird but after breakfast I bid them goodbye and we went on with our days, separately.

He was gone all day and went straight to work in the evening so I really didn’t get to see him. When he came home from work that night he was really stressed out. He blamed it on a bad shift. He then told me about this great bridge his sister told him about and that we should go check it out the next day. Also, that we should be there at 10 am. This again seemed weird to me but he said we could make a day of it and head to Downtown San Diego for lunch after.

The next morning, he woke me up at 6:15! He was obviously excited. He suggested that I get sort of dressed up so we could take some cool pictures with the new camera he had just received for Christmas.

We made it down to the bridge at 10:00 on the dot and it was so cool! I was in awe of the scenery and told him to take my picture. He ushered me along down the bridge and said that we should explore a little and that we would take pictures later.

Down toward the end of the bridge, I stopped to look over the side and as I turned back to look at him, he was down on one knee!!! I literally said, “What are you doing?!” He started saying how much he loved me and how happy I make him, and suddenly stopped, stood up, turned me the opposite way, and got back down on his knee and asked me to make him the happiest man alive and marry him.

After the resounding YES! and sealing it with a kiss, his sister and best friend both came running down each end of the bridge, cheering for us. They showed me where his GoPro was hooked on the bridge so we had video and told me they were taking pictures the whole time. My fiancé had a lock engraved with our initials that we hooked at the spot he proposed. His sister then popped a bottle of champagne and did a whole engagement shoot with us!!!

Best Day Ever!!
