How We Met
Kevin and I met each other at a club hosting a college night out in 2013. The club was having an 18+ event and neither of us was even 21 yet, so we were both mainly there to show off our dance moves. Kevin saw me dancing with some girlfriends and came up to me to ask for a dance. I wasn’t interested because I was just trying to have a good time with my girls so I said no thanks! Thankfully, Kevin was persistent enough and would ask me two more times, and once my friends had paired off said, “You know, you look kind of silly dancing by yourself”. *insert eye roll* So I said “Ok, why not” and we ended up dancing the night away.
How They Asked
Kevin and I never picked an official date that would begin our dating clock. So when celebrating anniversaries together we would celebrate other days instead of like the day we first met. This year, the day we met (September 5th) fell on a Saturday and marked 7 years since we met; so Kevin insisted we take ourselves on a date and spend a day in Boston. I have been dreaming of the day Kevin would propose…and that day turned out to be the dreamiest, magical day ever!
Kevin took me to walk along Seaport to enjoy the pretty views. We walked upstairs to a platform where you can overlook boats, the ocean, and the city. At the top of the platform, I went to look over the ocean when Kevin spun me around and looked me in the eyes…I suddenly knew what was about to happen…and the tears started flowing!
Afterward, Kevin not only surprised me by having both our families around a corner, but we also celebrated by popping champagne on the cutest boat ride! I felt entirely spoiled that day and can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with my best friend.
