How We Met
Brian and I met at his tailgate in 2011 through a mutual friend. We didn’t go out until several years later when we were reacquainted in May of 2014. From the first date, everything clicked. I felt like I was living a fairy-tale and couldn’t believe I had met such a perfect man. We both knew very early on that we were meant to be together forever.
how they asked
Brian and I are both avid Gamecock fans (#gogamecocks), so most of our weekends in the fall are devoted to football. Since there is only one bye week, we both wanted to go out of town and do something fun. We planned to visit his parents in Greenville, SC, go for a hike, and eat at one of the nice, local restaurants downtown.
Apparently, October 24, 2015, was one of the most popular days to go to the mountains because the leaves were changing (it was truly beautiful, btw), so Caesars Head was packed! There were tons of people on the overlook. The view was breathtaking. We decided to walk down a trail to the side to take in the beauty with just the two of us. Once we got to a secluded location, Brian looked toward me and said said a bunch of sweet things about wanting to be with me forever and then got on one knee and asked me to marry him. I honestly can’t even remember what he said because I was so flooded with emotion. I started crying and said “Yes!” to my best friend!
We were lucky to have found a spot where it was just the two of us doing what we love for that special moment. We always look forward to adventures, big or small, and marriage is just another fun adventure that we are looking forward to.
We celebrated that evening by having a nice dinner at Sassafras in Greenville, SC. That was my fairy-tale proposal with my prince charming. ;)

My grandmother passed away on Christmas Day in 2010. Christmas was her favorite holiday. Brian and I are planning to get married during the Christmas season at Mawmaw’s church so it will feel a little more like she is a part of our special day. Since we are having a Christmas wedding, I asked a friend, who is also a local artist, if he would take some engagement photos at the Christmas tree at the Statehouse grounds.
