How We Met: My father was sick and I was living most of my days in Indiana. It was a Saturday afternoon and one of my friends was having a birthday party in the city (Chicago). I hadn’t seen any of my friends in a couple months and I wasn’t in the mood to party. So I told my parents I just wanted to stay with them. They basically demanded I get out for awhile and go to this party. After about 2 hours of arguing I decided to go.
I’m glad I did. When I got to the city I was walking up the stairs to my apartment when I saw this beautiful girl with brown eyes.
I walked up to her and said; “Hi, my name is Brian with an “I.” She started laughing and we ended up talking for about 20 minutes. We ended up hanging out all of that night and forever since. So we actually met walking up the stairs, ha.
How I Asked: Alexis and I had plans to go see the Christmas Lights at Zoolights (in Lincoln Park). I knew this was the perfect time to do it. I wanted to get this moment captured on photographed. I found Collin Pierson, the photographer, and met with Collin at Zoolights a couple nights before the proposal.
We plotted out the plan on where we would be walking from and a good spot to get on a knee. Collin then figured out a good spot for him to be in to secretly take photos. The night of, Alexis and I started walking around the zoo. When the spot was approaching I started to tell her how much I love her and that “my heart has been smiling since the day I met her.” I then got down on a knee and asked her to marry me.
All this was beautifully captured in photos by Collin. Everything turned out GREAT!
