How We Met
A friend asked me if I had a cousin who lived across the street who had the same last name as me, his name was Jake Earl. When I said no he set us up on a date!! Jake and I went skiing at Sundance for our first date and found out we were actually 4th cousins once removed. It was pretty funny and we were both a little bit weirded out but eventually got over it and started dating!😂🤪
How They Asked
Jake and I last minute decided to take a trip to Saint George to go rock climbing together. We had talked about getting married but I knew he wasn’t going to propose because he didn’t have a ring yet. We planned to climb a 6 pitch in Lime Kiln Canyon, the same climb we had done on the first trip we had ever gone on together. When we pulled up to the trailhead I was feeling so sick that I leaned my seat back and suggested that maybe I wasn’t up to doing it after all.
Jake took my shoes off, gave me a 30-minute foot massage, and luckily that did the trick. I changed my mind and told him I wanted to do the climb so he helped me hike the whole approach. We laced up our climbing shoes and belayed eachother up the wall.
At the top of the 4th pitch we were sitting together, looking out at the beautiful landscape and he knelt down on one knee in his aggressive-fit climbing shoes and asked me to marry him.
He opened a little homemade wooded box and inside was a perfectly sized ring, intricately shaped out of green grass, a precious temporary engagement ring. All alone hundreds of feet up on a ledge we could hardly both stand on I said YES to the love of my life!:’)❤️
