How We Met
Alex and I met in high school through mutual friends at a football game. It was very brief and we did not talk much during high school. Several years later we reconnected on Facebook, went to get some coffee and it all began there.
How They Asked
Alex and I spent the whole day at Long Hunter state park in Nashville. We sat by the lake, went for a nice walk, and had a picnic. I knew he had a date planned for that night as well. We went home and got cleaned up for a date night. Alex took me to the Aloft hotel to go see the sunset from the rooftop. The rooftop overlooked the Nashville skyline.
When we got to the rooftop it said it was closed for a private event, so I started to turn around and head back for the car. Alex opened the door anyway and encouraged me to follow. I walked through the door to see a trail of white roses, candles, and pictures of us all leading up to a heart made of roses and the words “marry me” spelled out in lights. Alex led me down the path and got down on one knee. I said Yes!
A photographer came out of hiding to get some photos of us and we enjoyed some wine while watching the sunset from the rooftop. Then we left for dinner. Alex asked me not to call my parents yet, that we should wait and tell them when we got back home, to tell them in person. When we arrived at dinner, both of our families were there to greet us in a private room with cake, and decorations congratulating us. We spent the rest of the night surrounded by those who love us most and celebrating the best night ever.
