How We Met
Braxton and I met in college at a local restaurant. One night, I was out with some friends and we stopped to get a late night snack. We ran into another group of friends at the restaurant, and Braxton was with them. We started talking and he asked if he could use my phone to call his phone. Apparently, he had left it in a friend’s car. He used this opportunity to save his number in my phone while also getting my number by calling his phone; Sneaky! A month later he invited me to a Thanksgiving dinner with his fraternity. We started going on walks in the evenings. During these times we grew very close and eventually became a couple.

Four years later, Braxton wanted to take me on a trip to Iceland for my birthday. He planned the whole trip, making everyday a surprise for me. We drove the Ring Road, which goes around the entire country. One of the destinations, towards the end of our trip, was a glacier. We used crampons and an ice axe to hike up this glacier with a group of six people. It was exciting and terrifying at the same. The ice is so dense that the light refracts differently causing a rainbow to appear. The trail guide broke off a piece of ice with the rainbow inside and handed it to me. He told Braxton to “top that.” Well I guess you could say he did because not long after this, Braxton got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! He pretended to set up the camera for a picture, but was actually taking a video. I was so happy about making it to the top of the glacier in one piece that I was caught completely off guard. He was so nervous that he opened the box upside down and I just kept saying “are you serious?” until I finally remembered to answer his question. I’m so excited that I was able to say yes to my best friend in the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. Afterwards, we went to watch the seals in the glacier lagoon. Now I can say I brought some ice back from Iceland!
