How We Met

We met in high school in forensic science class. We didn’t really like each other and we didn’t get along. We were friends with the same friends and after a summer of hanging out almost everyday aka (he always wanted to come over to go in my pool,) I never would have thought we would become such good friends. We stayed in touch when he graduated and went to college and I was a senior. Finally, after texting everyday, he asked me to go to the movies to see “Due Date” on December 3rd, 2010. Not long after that we went to the city to see the tree on December 28th, 2010 and in a little cafe called Dean and DeLuca Cafe, he asked me to be his girlfriend!

how they asked

Every year on our anniversary, December 28th, we go to the city. After last year, our 4 year anniversary, we decided we weren’t going to go anymore because we were tired of it. This year up until a few days before, the location was a surprise. Without me knowing, Brandon searched high and low all over long island for the perfect spot and something kept bringing him back to the city. So a few days before he said “We are going to the city, one final time!” We arrived very early and ate a delicious breakfast at Norman’s in a hotel across from Central Park. After breakfast we went to The Museum of National History where we saw some cool science exhibits. He made lunch reservations at The Loeb Boathouse where we enjoyed a delicious meal. By that time it was around 2:30pm, I thanked him for a nice day and suggested we go home and rent a movie. We are both not fans of the city and it was super cold! All i wanted to do was grab hot coco and catch the next train. It was a beautiful day that he planned and I wanted to end it on a good note since every year something usually goes wrong! Little did I know we were ahead of schedule and he needed to stall me. We walked around Central Park a little “looking for hot coco.” Finally, we reached the other side of the restaurant where there was a fountain and a beautiful statue of an angel and four cherubs below it representing temperance, purity, health, and peace. The angel represents God blessing the water holding a lily for purity. I enjoyed listening to all of this as Brandon was telling me as it was no surprise to me that he knew it all. After explaining it he said that its a great statue to represent how a relationship should be. Staring at the angel, I agreed and then felt his eyes look away from the angel and stare at me. He looked at me the way he would often look at me when he was feeling sentimental, the way he looked at me 5 years ago on the same day when he asked me out. It happened so fast after that… I went to look at him and he was down on one knee! I was in total shock, I had not a clue he was going to propose! What do I actual remember? It’s hard to distinguish what I actually remember from what I remember from pictures but I HAVE NEVER FELT SO MUCH JOY IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! What is so awesome is that he had his friends go undercover and video and photograph the whole thing! It is the greatest gift to be able to look at those pictures and relive that moment over and over again! I am so happy to call Brandon Steven Kann my future husband! I love you!!!!!
