Brandon and Jen | Queen Elizabeth Park Proposal
how they asked: Leading up to the proposal, we had talked about marriage, and knew we wanted to get married in the fall, but she had no idea when I was going to propose. We hadn’t even gone ring shopping until 2 days before the proposal, so she was really left in the dark. However, I knew exactly what type of ring she wanted, and even secretly showed her some of the prototypes while I was designing it.
On the night of, we went out for dinner to Dark Table, in the Kitsilano Neighborhood of Vancouver. The whole restaurant was pitch dark, so luckily she couldn’t see how nervous I was. Then on the way home, I told her I wanted to stop by to see a “flower exhibit” at Queen Elizabeth Park. She just wanted to go home, but I convinced her that I needed to see the exhibit.
We parked, and a couple of my best friends had set up a table for us, with candles, flowers, champagne, and a gift for her. I had designed a whole scrapbook of our relationship over the previous few days, and it included some keepsakes, memories, and pictures of things that we had done over the 2.5 years of our relationship.
Then, after she had finished reading it, I grabbed the ring box (which was taped to the side of the table), got down on one knee, and asked her to marry me.
