Bethany and Andrew
How We Met: Andrew and I have known each other for years, since our middle school days. I can’t really pin point a “how we met” moment, but what I can do is tell you about how out friendship slowly but surely blossomed from an innocent friendship to a the most passionate, real love I’ve ever known. We were close friends in middle school and during our high school years we kind of drifted apart a little bit but still remained in touch.
A couple years after we graduated, on a snowy night, we just so happened to be in the same place at the same time exchanged numbers and quickly caught up. We picked up our friendship like we had never been apart and began spending a lot of time together.
After about 2 years of STILL remaining friends at this point, drew confessed that he had feelings for me. Not really knowing what to do, and not wanting to loose my friend I tried to disregard his confession and go on about our normal business but I couldn’t keep up the charade for long.
I quickly realized that I shared these feelings and wanted him to be mine. We officially started dating July 25, 2011 in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay. The rest is history.
how they asked: We often visit my best friend Heather in Landrum, South Carolina. Landrum is a beautiful, equestrian, quaint, tiny town in the foothills of White Oak Mountain. Landrum is also the home to many special moments in our relationship. The first time I visited Heather while we were still friends I spent hours on the phone talking to Andrew. We found out the offer we put in on the home we bought was accepted in South Carolina.
Now Andrew was determined to top that by pulling off an amazing proposal on top of White Oak Mountain. He let Heather in on the big secret and she convinced me that we should take some photos of us and her family on top of the mountain. I didn’t think twice about it and eagerly agreed because I am obsessed with photos. We drove up the mountain and began taking pictures in different combinations; Heather and I, Heather and her family, and the finally Andrew and I. The first picture we took was facing towards to overlook of the mountain and he snuck a peek of the ring behind his back so Heather could get a shot, I promise you this picture is not staged.
When we turned around to get pictures facing the camera, he got down on one knee and said the 7 most important words of my life. “Bethany Nicole Walton, Will You Marry Me?”
He used my full name. He made sure it was photographed. He asked my dad. It couldn’t of been happier. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with this man whom I have been lucky enough to know as a friend and companion.
