The Best Places to Propose at Disneyland: Bring on the Magic

When it comes to proposal locations, the more magical the better—and fairytale-loving love birds everywhere will agree: few places are as magical as Disneyland. Whether you call it the Magic Kingdom or the Happiest Place on Earth, there’s no denying this iconic theme park makes for some seriously enchanted proposals. Today, then, we’re breaking down our five favorite spots for a Disneyland proposal. Read on for our top pics (and get your best Mickey ears ready).

best places to propose at Disneyland

  1. On Main Street

If you’re looking for that quintessential Disneyland proposal, nothing beats the iconic Main Street. Just be aware—if you’re hoping for a great photo, the crowds can make that a little difficult. Our pro tip? Head to the Train Station at the entrance to the Magic Kingdom where you’ll get a stunning view of Main Street as a background, without the worry of strangers walking into your photo. 1. In Front of Cinderella’s Castle

When it comes to Disneyland proposals, perhaps no place is as magical as Cinderella’s castle. After all, if your partner is someone who would love a Disneyland proposal, she’s likely someone who also loves a good fairytale—and Cinderella’s enchanted, towering castle makes for the perfect backdrop for a fairytale-worthy proposal. We recommend having a professional engagement photographer staged and ready to snap. Or, if you want something more candid, you can always ask a passerby to snap your photo as you drop to a knee, like Kyle did when proposing to Tiffany in front of Cinderella’s Castle.

  1. On Your Favorite Ride

If your fiancé-to-be is more adventure-seeker than she is princess-in-pink, skip Cinderella’s Castle and opt for a proposal on your favorite Disneyland ride instead. The surprise and action will make for an incredible memory (and some seriously fun photos if you can plan for a photographer to be nearby). Just be sure to choose a ride where you won’t lose the ring—a rollercoaster is probably a no-go. Stick to something like a Dumbo ride proposal instead.

  1. In Front of a Curated Garden

If you’re hoping for a stunning photo of your Disney proposal, nothing beats a lush, blooming garden as a backdrop—and, depending on the time of year, you’ll find plenty of garden options at Disneyland or Disneyworld. We’re especially swooning over these images from Glenna and Kyle’s Disney World Flower & Garden Festival proposal.

  1. During the Holidays Near the Christmas Tree

Um, is there anything more dreamy than Disney at Christmas? We happen to think not. With magic in the air, twinkle lights by the ton, and—yes—an iconic Christmas Tree to boot, you really can’t go wrong with a holiday proposal at Disneyland. If you’re planning on proposing after the sun has gone down to capture the tree’s lights in all their romantic glory, we recommend hiring a professional photographer to capture the moment, as low-lighting can be tricky for a stranger with an iPhone.
