How We Met
For the past 7 years I have worked as an esthetician at a medium-size salon and spa located in Maryland. One Saturday my future fiancé visited the salon for a haircut (his first visit at our salon), and unbeknownst to me, I caught his eye. He was so smitten with me that he did what any normal guy would do: instructed his mother (a longtime salon client) to inquire about my availability during her next appointment. My co-worker eagerly gave his mother my e-mail address and within a few days I received an email from my future fiancé, Tyler. The irony of the situation is that, between the time of the first email and my first date with Tyler, we discovered that we had previously been introduced to each other many years ago at a mutual friend’s wedding!
how they asked
During the course of our 3 year relationship, I had the privilege of meeting Tyler’s rather large family. However, one thing that bothered me was that his family didn’t have any collective family pictures. Anyone that knows me knows that I have special fondness with pictures. Being the kind future daughter-in-law that I am, I contacted my favorite photographer 3 months in advance and worked with all of Tyler’s family members to schedule the photo shoot that they so desperately needed. However, little did I know that Tyler was secretly working with this photographer to plan a surprise engagement caught on camera!
On the morning of the family photo shoot, Tyler and I arrived to the location before his other family members. This didn’t seem strange to me at the time– I figured the we drove faster than everyone else or timely hit traffic lights. The photographer conveniently suggested that Tyler and I should use this time to take a few shots of “just us” as a couple. The next thing I know Tyler is down on one knee with a ring box in his hand. As you can see from the pictures, I was shocked. My mouth was hanging agape, and to this day I’m not even sure what Tyler said to me… but I said YES!
