how they asked
Jason and I had just flown in to California to spend Christmas with my family. Hiking has always been “our thing” so we decided to do a beach hike at Point Dume in Malibu. When we got to the top, there was a Bible on the railing of the boardwalk, overlooking the ocean and the beautiful cliffside. It was opened to 1 Corinthians 13, and highlighted was, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hope, always perseveres… And now these three remain faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
Jason closed the Bible to show me the cover, which had “Mrs. Rebekah Digby” engraved in it. He professed his love for me and got down on one knee to ask me to be his wife, and, of course, I said YES! I couldn’t have dreamt of a more perfect day!
