How We Met
Isaiah and I met at summer camp when we were in Jr. High. Thirteen year old Isaiah fell hard, and spent the better part of high school chasing after me. Honestly, I was clueless. We were best friends and I never thought of him romantically, and I just assumed he didn’t either. But as time went on our connection deepened, and as our friendship grew so did my feelings. I fell in love with my best friend, and finally in 2010, my senior year and Isaiah’s junior year, we started dating. Little did we know that that was only the beginning of an amazing journey together.
how they asked
On September 2, 2015 Isaiah picked me up from my house to take me out to eat. Nothing fancy, just a quick dinner before we went to visit my new born niece at the hospital. We were getting closer and closer to the exit and I kept telling Isaiah he was going to miss the exit if he didn’t get over, but he ignored me. As we were passing the exit he handed me a blindfold and told me to put it on because he had a surprise for me. My heart started racing and my hands were sweaty. This can’t be it, can it? Is he proposing!? My thoughts were going wild. FInally the speed of the car decreased and I knew we had to be close. He told me to take off the blindfold and as I did, he said “I’m taking you to Oregon!” I was in shock, confused and crazy excited all at the same time. I had been dreaming of going to Oregon for months–it seriously was my dream vacation. Isaiah had my mom pack me a suitcase, he worked it out with my boss, and he had all the details planned. We spent our first few days hiking through the gorge and hunting for waterfalls. It was so beautiful and so romantic but four days into the trip and no proposal. I began to wonder if it was going to happen, maybe this really was just a surprise vacation (which is still amazing!). On Sunday September 6, we made our way to the coast and ended up in the most perfect location, Hug Point, Oregon. I have never seen a more beautiful beach. We were surrounded by cliffs and rocks and there was only a handful of people on the beach, it was perfect. Isaiah told me to hang on because he wanted to run back to the car quick to get his camera. After he came back down we watched the waves and he held me for a moment before turning me around, dropping to his knee, and asking me to be his wife. It was the most amazing moment of my life! I have never felt more in love with Isaiah. His kindness, selflessness and thoughtfulness amaze me. I truly am the luckiest girl in the world!
