Bailie and Zach | Paris-Inspired Marriage Proposal

How We Met: Zach and I met at church in 2007. He was the youth pastor’s brother in law, and I happened to be a youth volunteer at that time. Our first real experience together was when I spilled a huge tub of coffee all over the church entryway on Easter morning. So smooth. Months later, he finally mustered up the courage to ask me out, and the rest is history (5 years in the making)!

how they asked: On January 19, 2012, Zach and I were out to eat with our best friends, Caitlin and Harold. Towards the end of dinner, I receive a frantic phone call from my sister, Cory, telling me that her car has broken down in the middle of nowhere and she needs us to pick her up. I of course ask her if she can get ahold of our parents, and she said that they were in a meeting. So, Zach and I leave the restaurant to go pick up Cory. As we pull into the location her car is broken down in (a park where Zach and I like to ride bikes), I see her car, but Cory is nowhere to be found. Of course I immediately think she is abducted and at that time Zach comes around to my car door and tells me that “Cory isn’t here.”

Wait, what? Yes, she is…her car is right in front of us! He then helps me out of the car and I see the most magical tent of lights coming off of a huge tree. As we get closer, I see a custom wood Eiffel Tower hanging from the tree as well, and love notes strewn across the branches. Of course I am still so confused, and Zach starts saying all of these nice things, and gets down on one knee and pops the question!!! It was the most romantic scenario ever, and I thought I was never going to be surprised when it came to our engagement!

We then went back to a party to celebrate with a bunch of our closest friends and family who were all wearing “She Said Oui” shirts! The night was so magical, and way better than I could have ever dreamt!
