How We Met
Luke and I worked together for only a few short months before I noticed him. I was instantly drawn to him with his playful banter, confidence, and his not-so-coincidental daily presence outside my classroom door. The rest is history and we have been best friends ever since!
How They Asked
Fast forward two years later. It was early November and we were planning our next weekend getaway to Chicago. Luke and I share a love for exploring new places and trying new food. Our first stop was the Shedd Aquarium. As far as I knew, we were killing time until dinner. As Luke chatted with several of the employees I assumed he was arranging a surprise adventure (as he often does – add that to the list of things I love about him)! Little did I know he had bought out all the remaining tickets to the Penguin Experience. Again, not suspecting a thing, I was overjoyed at the opportunity to meet a REAL penguin! As the experience started to wind down Luke started to inquire more about how penguins mate. I was completely fixated on the penguin when I suddenly realized what was happening! Luke was down on one knee explaining to me that, ” penguins find their best friend and mate for life.” It was the single most happiest moment of my life. Tears began rolling down my cheeks as we realized we still had one fluffy little audience member before us. Everything was beautifully captured by one of the aquarium’s photographers!
