How We Met
Mauricio and I met in the summer of 2021. We were tired of dating…but then we met each other. We immediately hit it off at the parking lot of our church. Mauricio told me that a group of his friends was going dancing. My friend and I showed up and we found out we were actually on a double-date. I didn’t mind much because Mauricio was 1. cute and 2. knew how to dance. I realized that I couldn’t deny that I had feelings for him and he felt the same. We started dating and fell in love fast. We knew that this relationship was a gift from the Lord.
How They Asked
December 5th, 2021 I was at a movie with one of my closest girlfriends. We were watching trailers play when all of a sudden the screen went black. The theater collected silence until a voice broke through. A voice that I knew. Mauricio. The words filled the room, “Some people say that love is a feeling. Some people say that love comes softly. Even others say that love comes and goes. But love, love actually, is all about effort.” I quickly found out that my now fiancée had run 146 miles from Marshall, TX to Dallas (with my ring in his backpack) in less than 4 days.
He did this to demonstrate his love and commitment for me and chose 146 miles because we met on the 14th of June. Not only that, but he had his friend Chris film a portion of it and display it on the big screen.
When the film ended I was led to a nearby park where 30 of our closest friends/family (and 250 roses) were there to greet me. Mauricio then came running towards me in his suit with my ring in his backpack. It was then that he asked me to spend the rest of my days with him.
