How We Met
We met almost 8 years ago (May 24th, 2012 to be exact) at a night club! We both grew up in Naples but had never met even though we have a few friends in common. After exchanging a few looks, Joshua finally came up to me, so we could talk. We talked for the rest of the night and danced the night away! The following day, he took me on a boating date with all of his friends and family! After that, I had to return to New York City where I attended college.
We stayed in touch, but we were just friends and eventually stopped talking. It wasn’t until later that year at a New Year’s Eve party where we reunited by coincidence in Naples at another night club! It was then when we decided to give it a try even though we were going to be in a long-distance relationship. A year and a half later in 2015, Josh made the bold decision to move to New Jersey, so we could finally be together.
How They Asked
Fast forward 5 years later, we were planning our anniversary trip when he mentioned he would love to go back to Ecuador to explore a few spots we had been wanting to go to. The first stop of our trip was Lago Quilotoa- a water-filled caldera 12,841 ft. above sea level! We walked down to the lake at around 8 am because we wanted to get a lot of pictures.
Unexpectedly, he got down in one knee and asked me to be his wife while surrounded by the most beautiful view. Of course, I said yes!! My uncle and aunt were present and it was a very special moment. No one knew about his plan except for my parents since he had asked them for my hand in marriage about a month before.
