How We Met
Mitchell & I met 6 years ago and it was an instant connection. He and his dad were meeting me and my parents to go boating. I thought he was so cute & sweet, and to show off I jumped into an ice-cold lake in northern Michigan at the beginning of June. He must have been impressed because, at the end of the day, he asked for my number. We hit it off and created a strong friendship. We continued to talk and grow our friendship for about a year. Then he finally asked me to be his girlfriend.
How They Asked
We were vacationing in Charleston and Mitchell really wanted to go to Boone Hall Plantation. I’m a history nerd, and a hopeless romantic, and Boone Hall was where the Notebook was filmed, so he didn’t have to twist my arm to go. We were walking around, exploring the grounds, when Mitchell pulled me aside and stated my full name, I knew at that moment what was going on and started to cry. Seeing my tears made him start to cry as well. Through tears, he was able to ask me to marry him.
I said yes and he whispered in my ear “that’s not a stranger, that’s the photographer I hired!” He really had thought it down to the detail. He had even hidden my ring in the ceiling since November! I called my mom and best friend right away, and they were both in on it, which made it EVEN MORE special. I’m so lucky he chose me.
