How We Met
Jonathan and I met while we were seniors at Auburn University (2013). I lived at an apartment complex called Copper Beech, and a group of my guy friends from high school did as well. It was Labor Day Weekend, and I went to my friend’s apartment to grill out with my dog, Ella. Little did I know that I would be meeting my future husband that night! Jonathan walked in with his roommates, and we really didn’t speak too much aside from introducing ourselves. Ella definitely hogged all of the attention!
The day that Jonathan and I really began to start our relationship started with a snapchat. He sent me a picture of this old, broken-down store saying “heading home for the weekend.” What he didn’t know is that old store is at the end of the street I live off of, and he only lived 2 miles past it. Now for most people, this isn’t very significant. However, I live in the middle of nowhere, and our paths must have almost crossed hundreds of times before we actually met. The timing of our relationship was a total and complete God thing!
The most exciting day of our relationship was November 30, 2013. Some of you will recognize that date as the Kick Six Iron Bowl, and it will forever be one of the best days of my life. This is the day that Jonathan officially asked me to be his girlfriend- after the kick six, on the field. A southern, football-loving girl couldn’t ask for a more perfect moment, or so I thought.
how they asked
The only thing that I love more than football is anything and everything Disney. I have been over thirty times now (I’ve lost count so I’m unsure of how many times it actually is), and it is literally my favorite place in the world. My family always goes to Walt Disney World for the holidays, and on December 15, 2015, we left for our trip! Jonathan never really talked about proposing too much, because if you know me, you know that it is extremely difficult to surprise me. I assumed that if he was going to propose at Disney that he would do it the first day we were there. We went to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom the first night we arrived. We watched the Christmas parade, rode tons of rides, took pictures in front of the castle, and watched Christmas Wishes. It was amazing, but since the proposal did not happen this night, I assumed that it was not going to happen at Disney.
On Wednesday, December 16, 2015, we spent the second day of our trip at the Magic Kingdom. We ate at two of my favorite restaurants for lunch and dinner (Be Our Guest and ‘Ohana), rode almost every ride in the park, and watched the parade. My mom was adamant about watching Wishes from Main Street instead of right in front of the castle like we normally do. I did not think anything of this, because we usually watch Wishes 2-3 times each trip. She also LOVES taking pictures so I assumed she wanted a new angle. We were watching Wishes, and I really didn’t think it was happening since Jonathan didn’t do it before the fireworks started. Jonathan was standing behind me, and towards the end of Wishes, he started telling me how he wanted to bring our kids here one day. My first thought was, “Great! Me too, but we’re watching fireworks right now.” He also said a few more things that neither of us can remember, but I know it was absolutely perfect.
He then proceeded to tell me that he had a very important question to ask me, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. The ring is absolutely perfect, and he picked it out all by himself! Jonathan pulled off the most amazing proposal for me, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him! The Kick Six was pretty incredible, but the proposal, by far, was the most perfect moment of my life.
