How We Met
I had just finished college and playing college volleyball. I knew of Jake because he was the graduate assistant football coach and I thought he was so cute! Apparently he thought I was cute too and had talked to my old volleyball coach many times about introducing us. One night I was catching up with old friends at a local bar, including my old volleyball coach, and Jake showed up. We spent the entire night talking, and I agreed to go on a date with him. Our first date was amazing, we sat and talked for so long that we didn’t realize the restaurant had started to close! We dated for about two and a half amazing years before we got engaged!
how they asked
He planned a date night in Denver, CO for us right before Christmas, my favorite. His mom had texted me to see if I wanted to get my nails done with her “for Christmas nails”. Then Jake took me to the melting pot where we had a beautiful, private table with roses and wine waiting. We had a wonderful diner then headed to the Denver Botanic Gardens light show. It was beautiful! Little did I know, he had been there earlier in the week and scouted out the perfect spot to propose, a gazebo covered in white lights and mistletoe. We stopped to “take a picture” and he got down on one knee, used my full name, and asked me to marry him!
I said yes, of course! The best surprise came on Christmas Day. I was a little sad that we didn’t have any photos to remember that perfect moment, but he covered all of the bases! In the middle of his family Christmas celebration he brought out a large present for me, I thought the surprises were over!
Turns out he had his uncle (a photographer) hide in the bushes and take pictures the whole time! So on Christmas he gave me a beautiful framed picture of our special moment!
