Ashley and TJ
How We Met
Back in 2011, a friend invited me to go away for New Years weekend with him and his friends to Mount Snow, VT. I didn’t have any plans, so I figured it would be fun and I went, despite not knowing anyone else. All of his friends were very welcoming and on the second night we were there, TJ and I started talking and after midnight on New Year’s Eve, we took a walk from our condo out onto the mountain and enjoyed our first kiss. After that trip, we went on our first date and as they say, the rest is history.
how they asked
After we started dating, TJ taught me how to snowboard. It is a passion of his and I always wanted to learn. He was a very patient teacher. After I learned, every February we go on a trip with friends during our birthday week (his birthday is February 23rd and mine is February 24th) to Killington, VT. In 2016, the year started off pretty rough. My dad had had a heart attack and luckily he made a full recovery and my dog had cancer that we were treating. Our annual vacation was very much needed. On the 2nd day of our trip, we took a break midday from boarding and went up to Killington’s Peak Lodge for some food. One of our friends was with us and with the amazing view they have up there, I asked him to take a picture for us.
He was showing me the picture to make sure I liked it and then when I turned around, there was TJ on one knee. I was so surprised and I immediately said yes.
My hands started shaking and when he put the ring on, I couldn’t even look at it properly because they were shaking so much. The people around us started clapping and I was just beyond thrilled. I am also so grateful that our friend was there to capture this memory for us.
