How We Met
Sal and I have been together for 6 years now and recalling how we met seems so silly after all this time. He won’t remember but the first time we ever met was in the 7th or 8th grade. Fast forward many years later when we met again through mutual friends and the rest is history.
How They Asked
This story kills me every time I tell it. If you expect a picture-perfect proposal this is not that story. We had planned a Sunday in August to go peach picking in Mattituck. I woke up that morning to rain and cloudy skies but Sal was determined we would head out east and the weather would get better. The closer we got, the harder the rain came down. We finally arrived at Pattie’s Berries and Bunches and the rain seemed to stop. We figured we only had a small window to get some berries and some flowers because of the weather so we ran to the field. In the field we walked a bit and before I knew it Sal was getting down and asked me to marry him. I couldn’t believe it, in the brief moment of saying yes we had clear skies before the rain came down again. We headed back to his sister’s house where our family was waiting so in the end, the not-so-perfect proposal ended up being so imperfectly perfect!
