Ashley and Miles
How We Met
I, Ashley, saw this cute boy in the hallway of our high school. He had the goofiest, sweetest smile. He also had a girlfriend. I moved on with my life, but 7 years later I asked that cute boy if he wanted to go walk in the park with me. He happily obliged, we walked and talked until 6 in the morning, and we have been walking and talking, hand in hand, ever since that hot, summer day. Miles and I entered each other’s lives at the most perfect time. We have been enamored with one another since day one of our adventures life together.
how they asked
In 2016, I hiked the Appalachian Trail. The trail changed my life in every way imaginable. It was beyond perfect that Miles decided to propose at my favorite spot on the trail, Roan Mountain in Tennessee.
We were hiking across the beautiful bald mountain top. It was a breezy, cool day. We decided to stop, sit on a rock, and admire the incredible view of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
After we sat down, Miles began to tell me how he has felt about me since the day I asked him if he wanted to go walk. We’ve done a lot of walking and talking in the past (almost) year. And in that moment, he asked me to take his hand in marriage. I immediately went into that “I can’t believe this is happening” kind of ugly cry. Miles had tears running down his face as well. We’re best friends, adventure partners, and a support system.. we’ve known for a long time that we want to spend forever with one another.. but now it’s our reality!
This elderly couple is a glimpse into mine and Miles’ future in 40 years. We cannot wait.
