How We Met
We met at an ALS walk in 2014, walking with my family. I asked her to join me for a cocktail afterwards and she obliged. After talking for some time, we realized neither one of us were in the place to date at the time and went our separate ways. Fast forward eight months and we happened to run back into each other at an event my company was putting on. After reconnecting, we quickly realized were perfect for each other.
how they asked
On March 10th, 2016 Ashley and I were set to celebrate our one year anniversary. I had her meet me at my house, where an envelope sealed with wax and an “F” stamped in it, instructed Ashley that a car would be by to claim her shortly. She was then whisked away to The W Atlanta Downtown. The “residential concierge” brought Ashley inside the elevator and pushed the “helicopter” floor. The doors opened and she climbed the stairs on the roof to the helipad atop the hotel.
She found a five piece New Orleans marching band, playing our song, “Gold”, by Chet Faker, with me standing in the middle, anxiously awaiting her. After she absorbed the spectacular setting, I got on a bended knee and asked her to marry me! And, shocker, she said yes.
The band launched back into our song as we danced to our new chapter in our lives with the Atlanta skyline all around us.
After many attaboys, tears, hand shaking, and hugs to the band and photographer, we retired to our suite where I had strewn rose petals everywhere and had champagne waiting. It was such a perfect night and one that we will cherish forever.
