As a wedding photographer, I planned a trip to a photographer’s conference in Arizona with colleagues of mine for the second year in a row. When my boyfriend Lou decided to come out for the tail end of the trip to go see the Grand Canyon I didn’t think anything of it as we love to travel together! We have been together for over 5 years and traveling is a big part of who we are as a couple. We woke up extra early so I could photograph the beautiful sunrise over the mountains of the Grand Canyon. As we hiked around the Grand Canyon and were walking past a great spot a couple passing by offered to take a photo of us. The next thing I know, my best friend is down on one knee asking for me to marry him!
I was so excited and overwhelmed with emotion, I immediately burst into tears! After photographing so many proposals, engagements and weddings for other couples, it was such a surreal feeling to experience it first hand. He picked the perfect ring, a pear shape diamond with a gold band in a green Mrs. Box with my initial on it. He had seen me use Mrs. boxes for detail photos at weddings and knew how much I loved them!
Turns out Lou bought the ring in the summer and asked my dad for his permission to marry me when he dropped off our golden retriever at their house before his flight out to meet me in Arizona. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect moment and couldn’t be happier!
