How We Met
John and I met at a mutual friend’s birthday party. I was supposed to go on a date with an FBI agent named Ron. We were supposed to meet at 7:00 pm, and I got ready with my friends, only to learn that Ron was running two hours late. I made the decision to cancel and went to my friend’s birthday party. When I was ordering my drink, I was standing next to my (now fiance) John, and we started talking. We had similar jobs, and had the same clients! We had so much in common and so much chemistry. The next day, I was getting coffee and saw a very fashionable and cute couple, and imagined myself and John doing the same thing one day (like a weirdo) I couldn’t get him off my mind! As I was imagining this, I got a text from John asking me out for a first date. We haven’t left each other’s side since, and totally believe that the universe pushed us together at that time.
How They Asked
My engagement was very funny, I was under the impression that we were going to Stone Harbor to celebrate my Fiancé’s dad’s birthday. We stopped at the grocery store and I was committed to making all of the appetizers for his birthday BBQ. We arrived at our amazing house which was right on the beach, and I proceeded to go A-wall in prepping for this BBQ. I knew that we had 3 hours to get ready, and was not concerned about how I looked because it was a BBQ.
John ( My now Fiancé), kept walking into the kitchen as I was helping his mom prep freaking out asking me to “relax and get ready” and “you shouldn’t be working on your vacation!” I stopped prepping 40 minutes before 3:30, and grabbed a face mask and proceeded upstairs to take a shower. John was never more excited. 10 minutes into my shower, John walked in and nervously asked if I could be ready in 10 minutes.
I had shampoo in my hair, and responded: “John, I wanted to do a mask and I just put shampoo in- are you serious!?” I finished showering quickly and got dressed to find out I still had time before we left to get his brother-in-law a shirt from Fred’s tavern ( that is why it was so urgent we left the house at 3:30). His two sisters, their significant others, and John and I went for a walk to get this shirt from Fred’s Tavern (which is a liquor store and pub in town), and John is a basket case.
He is type 1 diabetic, and his hands were clammy, so I got him a root beer because I was concerned about his sugar being too low. We ended up walking on the beach, and his sister suggested that John showed me the lifeguard boat, which happened to be in the middle of the beach. He had the sweetest proposal, we both blacked out due to nerves. I said yes before he asked, and now we are just happy!
