How We Met
We met on Instagram. We followed each other and liked each other’s posts, but never connected beyond that until there was this one post. I saw a video Ashley posted, and
I messaged her. She responded right away, then we began talking and exchanging numbers, and I asked her out on a date. Since that first date we have been inseparable. She was different than any girl I had met, and we began to see how many things we had in common. Fast forward 4 years, our love grew and I felt the perfect timing to propose was on our 4 year anniversary.
How They Asked
I wanted to create a beautiful experience for when I proposed to Ashley. I secured a private estate with high ceiling and an overall sophisticated look. I wanted the entrance to be inviting and magical when she entered, and it was.
We are not shy when it comes to style and being in front of the camera, which is why the surprise proposal was planned around a photoshoot. I chose our 4-year anniversary to do a photoshoot, so it wasn’t out of the norm, until we arrived at the estate.
We started out with photos in front of the estate, and I slipped away to go indoors. The owner of the estate invited Ashley inside for a quick tour and led her into the foyer where Ashley walked through a draped entrance following the sound of the music.
She thought the music was for an event taking place, just to find out that the event was for her. As she walked in, she saw me at the end of the room surrounded by a backdrop and aisle of roses and candles. Ashley’s first thought was Oh My God, is this really happening? Is he going to do what I think he is going to do? It was simply amazing. And the music was coming from a pianist and violinist who played magically.
In Ashley’s words, “It was so beautiful & magical. Every little detail was thought out and I was just in awe.” Her overall feeling was a mixture of shock with pure happiness. And for me, even though it was my vision, I was able to experience the same magical moment and excitement as I asked Ashley to join me on this journey of forever.
