How They Asked
Eric and I got engaged on September 22nd, 2018 in Door County, WI. We went for a weekend getaway. In my head, I thought, “Yes! Maybe it will finally happen!” but… it wasn’t looking so promising when the topic got brought up while we were having a fish fry Friday night and Eric said, “We need to wait until you graduate, and we also need to redo our back deck first and get a fence put in for Bruce.” (Our dog) I was SAD lol… my initial thought was, “a deck was more important than me, great.”? Saturday came along and Eric and I explored the beautiful town of Door County, WI.
We decided to go on a sailboat before dinner, the weather was perfect that night! …It was a 2-hour ride and we were headed back to the dock and only had 15 minutes left on the trip. Eric thought the captain forgot about his proposal plan and was starting to internally freak out!
But then, the captain said it was a really good sunset and if we wanted to take a picture now was the time to do it…and that’s when my forever man got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I was the HAPPIEST girl in the world, nothing could beat that moment we shared together. I remember just being in shock that it actually happened and that I was the luckiest girl to get to spend forever with this man.
Eric showed me the ring and explained that on the band under the diamond he had waves engraved. This was because we not only met while we were on the water, but we also got engaged in the water while sailing. I was amazed at how much thought he put into this ring and the proposal, he made me feel so loved.
We celebrated with the most delicious dinner we both have ever had at Trixies and was greeted with parties from our family and friends when we got back to Little Chute and Illinois! It was the perfect weekend that we both will NEVER forget and we cannot wait for our big day on June 13, 2020!?❤️
