How We Met
Dan & I met the “old fashioned” way . . . online!
We both had just joined the dating site & were each other’s 1st dates, so neither of us had much hope that this would be anything short of a complete disaster! Dan had recently moved to Austin for a new job and hadn’t been out in town much, so I invited him to join me for tacos at my favorite local spot called Torchy’s Tacos. It’s a pretty quick service, so I knew I could get in & out in under an hour and still eat a good taco. Three hours of conversation and laughter later, and we had a second date planned.
After our second date, we both took down our online dating profiles, and the rest is history!
how they asked
Fast forward to the week before our 2-year anniversary. We’d been discussing getting married for the last six months, and we’d actually picked out the ring together. I was fully expecting him to propose over our anniversary weekend since we were planning a quick weekend road trip to San Antonio.
Knowing that I’d be thinking this, Dan opted to propose the weekend before, catching me off guard during our normal Saturday morning walk with our dogs. Halfway through our route, he suggested that we stop on a pedestrian bridge to let the dogs rest and watch the kayaks on the lake below.
I remember looking out on the water and being slightly annoyed that we were stopping since it was starting to get hot. When I turned to Dan to say something about how we needed to get moving again, he was on one knee with the ring in his hand! I was so surprised that I instantly started crying and have no idea what he even said after that!
With the help of my friend and colleague, he’d also planned a surprise engagement dinner that evening with all our closest friends and family in Texas!
