How We Met
It was transfer move in day at Cornell University August of 2013. Little did we know we were both were assigned to Baker Tower. Baker Tower overlooked Cayuga Lake and was part of the oldest, stone built gothics and one of the most beautiful parts of campus in my opinion. I was completely unaware but Dan held the door open for both my dad and brother during one of the many trips moving my stuff in! Later that night Dan and another guy stopped by mine and my roommates room to stop by and introduce themselves since we were all transfers and new to the Cornell family. We talked a bit, learned he lived right upstairs, traded numbers the rest was history!

How They Asked
It was Cornell Sprint Football Alumni Weekend August 2019 (ironically 6 years almost to the day since we first met). Dan attended and played in the alumni game any year he could after we graduated so nothing seemed out of the ordinary. I was going to grab breakfast with my best friend who lived in Ithaca while Dan had to attend some alumni meetings and pre game planning. He dropped me off at her place and she was going to bring me to the field when we were done. On our way to bottomless mimosas, she said she had to stop in the Cornell Plantations to get something for work (also not odd- she worked at a green house and did floral and plant arrangements). I even offered to come out and help her! Here we are walking and I see Dan out on the dock that extends out over a pond full of lillies. I said to my friend “hey isn’t that Dan over there”. She was silent, continued walking and once we got to the dock she told me to keep walking. I get across the pond to find Dan (with a hankerchief in hand) standing next to his friend with a guitar and music stand. Dan sang to me a few songs that we have both connected to throughout our relationship. The last song I had told him probably for the last year I loved and imagined dancing our first dance to- Here Tonight by Brett Young. He finished, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I couldn’t even see the ring though the happy tears!!!!! I said yes of course and realized he had a videographer capturing the whole thing! He also told me that my parents and his parents were on there way and that we were all going to meet at the game to watch him play and then have a celebratory dinner after.
