How We Met
Caleb and Ashley met a few years back through his best friend who happened to be her cousin in law. Ashley walked in late to a gathering at their house and it was love at first sight… for Caleb that is. Ashley didn’t quite remember him telling her she could sit beside him, or the conversation where she told him he was basically like family to her. That night left Caleb a little discouraged but ultimately didn’t stop him from getting to know her better, pursuing her, and after a year and a half of waiting, they were officially a couple!
How They Asked
A couple of years flew by, and they were tentatively planning to get married in the summer of 2021, which would mean a proposal summer of 2020 was underway. Then COVID-19 struck and virtually every wedding of 2020 was being postponed to 2021. Some parts of the wedding planning had to start but they still wanted to wait until the quarantine was over to get engaged so they could celebrate with everyone in their lives.
But eventually, they realized planning the wedding before getting engaged was a bit tougher than they thought so throwing all other plans aside, Caleb popped the question on a little cabin trip to Mount Rainier with their dear friends who happened to be the perfect ones to capture it all (Sam and Sola Photography). They drove up and down the mountain, location scouting for a shoot Sola guised as a “tutorial on how to pose for her clients”, but the rain and snow kept pouring down.
Finally, there was sunlight peeking through the clouds so they got out and climbed down to the river as the rain stopped and Caleb pulled out the ring. He nervously recited his speech to her, terrified he was going to drop the ring into the water, and through tears and all, Ashley said yes!
