How We Met
My fiancé and I met 10 years ago in college through a mutual friend. We were only acquaintances and we actually never hung out together while in college. After college, we somehow reconnected and we went out on our first date together 6 years ago.
I ended up moving to a different state for graduate school, so after our first date, we didn’t meet up for our second date (or what we call, our second first date) until 2 years later. During that 2-year time frame, my now fiance always checked in on me and kept in touch. Talk about a true love story.
How They Asked
My fiancé surprised me with the proposal of a lifetime for our 4 year dating anniversary. I had no idea what we were doing until the day of our anniversary. First, he took me to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden during the day, then he took me to lunch. It was a beautiful day outside and I had such a great time. I thought that was it, but it got so much better! He told me to dress nicely for the evening because he was taking me to a rooftop lounge. I was expecting the rooftop lounge to be full of people, with food, drinks, and music.
When we arrived at the rooftop, it was completely empty except for a photographer. It turns out he planned a surprise couples photoshoot for us, on a private rooftop, facing the Empire State Building in Manhattan. In the middle of the photoshoot, my fiance started telling me how much he loved me and how he couldn’t see life without me.
It was at that very moment that I thought to myself “OMG, this is actually happening” and the rest is history. I was completely surprised and it made me so happy to know that the love of my life would go through all of that just to make me happy. Our love story is a living fairytale and I’m happy I found my forever King.
