Ashlea and Brandon

How We Met

Almost four years ago, I had just gotten out of an unhealthy relationship. I wasn’t happy, didn’t know what I wanted, and wasn’t really taking care of myself. Luckily my best friend was really there for me then. She was actually dating a guy whose best friend was also single, and they had the brilliant idea of introducing us to one another. There weren’t many words said when we first met, so it was a little awkward. However, the next weekend, we accidentally ran into each other during homecoming weekend. That night I actually shut my car door on my finger, but the charming guy that Brandon is – he took care of me. We talked all night, and at some point, I remember thinking that I felt like I had known him all my life. Three months later, we started dating and the rest is history!

How They Asked

We had lunch plans at the Plaza in KC. I didn’t know what time the reservation was set for or what friends we were meeting for lunch, but before heading to Buca di Beppo, he walked me over to the big red fountain. Then he looked at me and handed me a penny. He said, “take this, close your eyes, and make a wish”. So I turned my back to the fountain, closed my eyes, and threw the penny over my shoulder. When I opened my eyes, Brandon was down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
