How We Met
Stacey and I have been dating for about a year now, but we’ve been friends for a number of years. I grew up in Sydney and Stacey is from South Australia. We first met one another in Byron Bay. We are both filthy beach bums so it suits us perfectly! I knew she was the one almost immediately, I’d say it was a little lusty at first, but after a few dates, I was absolutely smitten!
how they asked
I chose to propose at Rae’s on Wategos because it was the setting for one of our first dates. Stacey surprised me with a fancy little seafood lunch in their intimate, open-air restaurant, overlooking the beach. From then we both absolutely fell in love with the place, so I knew that had to be the spot! I enlisted the help of local proposal planner, Wild Goat Events to help me plan, style + co-ordinate the day so all I had to do was worry about popping the question.
Stacey had already had some input in designing the engagement ring so I wanted to ensure there was an element of surprise for the actual proposal. Plus, I’m really bad at keeping secrets from her, so I wouldn’t have been any good at trying to organize everything on my own, without her knowing something was up.
I wanted a classic and elegant proposal setting (to match Stacey) and I liked the idea of ‘all white’, to match what Stacey and I would be wearing. Local florists Nikau came onboard to create an amazing floral arrangement, which became the centerpiece to my romantic Penthouse proposal.
