Arielle and Ethan

Arielle's Proposal in Key West Florida

How We Met

Ethan and I met through a mutual friend in college. Our friend introduced us to each other at a party at which I then proceeded to walk away and hang out with my friends. If I could go back in time I would go back to that moment and yell at my past self to go back and talk to him. Well as fate would have it we crossed paths several times, and each time I spent just socializing with my friends I knew. After college we all went out for St. Patrick’s Day in Hartford. I can’t tell you what made me go “Hey I should go talk to that guy that I always see and never talk to” but whatever it was it has all lead to the happiest times of my life.

Arielle and Ethan's Engagement in Key West Florida

how they asked

Ethan and I both went to the University of Connecticut and met through a mutual friends group. It wasn’t until a year after we graduated that we started dating. Three years into our relationship and we decided to take a two week vacation in Florida. We mostly stayed with our families down there and decided that we could splurge on a trip to Key West since neither of us had ever gone. When we arrived to check in, the hotel upgraded us to a gorgeous suite (which was not part of the proposal but was a stroke of luck and made the trip even more special). We went out to dinner and then went to Mallory Square to watch the sunset with the other hundreds of people. Ethan suggested that we move down towards a quieter part of the square away from the crowds. We eventually made our way to the end of the square in front of a marina. We found a bench and sat and watched the sunset. Right as the sun set Ethan took my hand and said “You know how long it took me to say I love you? It means that I truly mean it. So I know it took a while but you know I mean it when I ask will you marry me?” I immediately said yes and tackled him with a hug. It was a private perfect moment in a beautiful spot. I wouldn’t have had it any other way. The picture attached is the picture we took the next day at the Mile 0 marker symbolising the beginning of the rest of our lives together.
