How We Met
We met when we were both at the University of California, Irvine. We were both apart of the Greek system and our chapters were very close. The first time we met was at the Anthill Pub (it was a pub on campus), but it was just a casual hang out with friends. A month later our Greek system had an event called Greek Week and our two chapters were paired. Nick was the president of his chapter and I was the representative for mine. His chapters representative didn’t put in a lot of effort so I had to talk to Nick (lucky me). From the high stress (on my end, not his), teamwork, and all the fun we continued our talking outside of the even and the rest is history!
How They Asked
The entire day was planned by my fiancé and I had no clue what was going on and I’m still in cloud 9.
Nick has told me months ago he had a volleyball tournament (he plays on a professional team) and this seems very normal to me. It also worked out well because I was going to (or what I thought I was going to) a fashion show in Newport Beach with my mom and my mom’s best friend, Sally, and her daughter, Leanne. (This was how my family was able to get me so dressed up). My mom and dad picked me up (he was doing business in Newport so he was going to be our “Uber” driver) and said that Sally and Leanne were running late so they were going to show me a house in Vellano (housing area in Chino Hills) that they ere interested…
The three of us were chatting and we passed Vellano and I was so confused… The next thing I knew my mom said: “Get out of the car we aren’t going to Newport today.” I still had no clue what was going on! When I got out of the car at a lookout point in Chino Hills, one of Nick and my best friends was there to lead me on a path…and it finally hit me.
At the lookout point, our friend let me on a path that had five different stops. At each stop, there were two of our closest friends and siblings reading a leader that Nick had written to me. After hitting all the spots, I met nick at the top of the hill where he asked me to marry him. Right after that, we celebrated with our friends and family that was there and it was amazing.
After the engagement, Nick arranged a party bus and all of our friends went to a brewery and just hung out.
I thought that was it…but I was wrong. After the brewery, we went back to my parents’ house and have dinner with everyone that was at the engagement…but when I got to my parents’ house I saw so many cars. Nick (with the help of our parents) had a surprise engagement party for us with all of our friends and family. It was the most magical day.
