How We Met
We met in September 2014 in Philadelphia.
How They Asked
I proposed to Archana during our wonderful trip to Bali. I had brought the engagement ring with me, knowing that I wanted to propose on the island but unsure of the best time. Our first couple of days on Bali took us to some beautiful locations, but it was always a bit too crowded to have an intimate moment. By our last day, I was becoming worried that I would not find the right setting. On that morning, I convinced Archana that, after visiting the Uluwatu Temple, we should make an excursion to the relatively quiet Suluban Beach Cave. We made the descent, but there were still a number of people, so I encouraged Archana to walk out along the edge of the cave and turn the corner where there was a private space to stand among the rocks. She was hesitant because the tide was starting to flow, but eventually she ventured out. I walked ahead and was already down on one knee holding up the engagement ring by the time she rejoined me. We were all alone, surrounded by the sea and the cliffs. I told her I loved her and asked her to marry me, and she said yes. We had a few minutes to enjoy this special moment, then made our way back to the beach before the water became too high.
