Anya and Alex

Image 1 of Anya and AlexAfter 2 1/2 years of dating, Alex had told me he was wanting to propose in December (because he knows i hate surprises), but around mid November, he told me it probably wouldn’t happen in that time frame. I was kinda disappointed…

So right before our finals in December, he told me that his brother, Matthew was going to propose to his girlfriend, faith in Mcadenville, and that we should be there to take pics and i needed to take faith to get her nails done and “other girlie things”. i was a little skeptical at first and wondered if Alex was actually going to propose, but after a little digging realized it wasn’t.

The day came, and i’m not going to lie, I was in a bad mood. I was told that Matthew had hired a photographer to hide and that Alex and I would ask have Matthew and faith get our picture, and then they would get their’s and that was when Matthew was going to pop the question. we got to the location, and Alex and i stepped up to get our picture taken. right before we had another one snapped, he turned and me and said, “now don’t hate me, but I love you and I want to marry you”. it didn’t hit me until he pulled out the most beautiful ring from his pocket, got down on one knee, and asked, “Anya, will you please marry me??”

AND OF COURSE I SCREAMED AND CRIED and freaked out and finallyyyy managed a “yes”. Next thing i knew my family and his family came running out to congratulate us! he had my family, including my grandma and aunt and uncle, come all the way from greensboro to witness his proposal! I still don’t know when i recovered from shock that night.

I later found out that he had this planned for a month and a half, and his whole family had been in on it for a while, calling it “operation ricecake”. I hate surprises, but this was seriously the most well-played surprise i could ever imagine. Well done, Alex…I can’t wait to be your wife!
