How We Met
Anthony and I met at college back in the Fall of 2013 through mutual friends. We both were in relationships but had a deep connection forming every time we saw one another. We became single and decided to pursue something more than just a friendship. He was always so charming. Always complimented me, and his smile made me melt in a million different ways. I’ll never forget sitting in the dining hall with my friends and asking all about him. He was the most handsome human being I had ever laid my eyes on. After a semester together, we separated during the summer time and didn’t keep in touch. I always knew I’d find my way back to him but was never sure why or how. Fall 2014 rolls around and neither one of us went back to school, for me I took the semester off, for him he was joining the military. We ended up being at the same place, at the same time with our friends and the rest is history. The connection we had the prior year was still there. Nothing had changed and the butterflies and googly eyes still remained. It was as if we hadn’t even spent those many months apart. We officially started dating on November 1, 2014. Anthony swore into the army the following January, and from then on our love has been felt by one another through many miles of distance. We are an ocean apart living on different continents, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. He is my best friend and my soulmate. I always knew he was the one.
how they asked
Anthony was home on leave for 2 weeks. On Saturday the 26th of December, his family was having photos taken of everyone (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc) It started by waking up around 8:15am, getting ready and heading to the studio. Anthony was a little grumpy but little did I know it was actually nerves. – at the studio we began by taking a huge family portrait that I was fortunate enough to be included in. It then went into couples and it was our turn to be in front of the camera. The two of us changed our clothes; myself into a dress and Anthony into his uniform. The photographer, Eric placed my hand on his chest and his hand on my waist to start, then proceeded to make minor adjustments, as we were in the middle of these pictures, Anthony’s family is watching. A moment later he kisses me and I was confused as to what he was doing since Eric had specifically placed us a certain way for the photos. I hear “AnnMarie, I love you…” said by Anthony and I immediately felt my body get hot and couldn’t breathe. He got down on one knee and I could feel my heart beating out of my chest. He asked me to marry him in front of everyone but because I was too blinded by the ring he had in his hands to answer, he had to ask me again.. “Annie, will you marry me?” ..And I said yes with the BIGGEST smile on my face! It was so magical I couldn’t even cry because I was just so stinkin’ happy to have my man back home and to now be his fiancé!! It was so beautifully done and I will remember it forever! And the next best thing besides the proposal was that we had a photographer capture it all in photos! It was amazing. Something that not only I will cherish, but we will cherish for the rest of our lives!
