Annabelle and Eric
How We Met
Eric and I met when I was a freshman and he was a senior in college. Somehow we ended up going to the same Saturday night event with a group of friends, and sat next to each other at the restaurant. I was shy and didn’t talk to him too much, which he thought meant I wasn’t interested in him at all. Luckily, he still attempted to hang out with me and we continued to get to know each other. His friends knew that we liked each other, so they invited me to his birthday party that they were planning. We sat next to each other while playing Catch-Phrase where he ended up making fun of me for misreading the word “manatee” (I could have sworn it said matinee!) As the party came to an end, we continued to talk into the wee hours of the night. It’s been over 9 years since that night, and we’ve had the most incredible journey together. From struggling through long distance, to traveling all over Europe, I can honestly say that he and I have the best relationship. He’s my best friend and I can’t imagine my life without him!
how they asked
Eric and our good friends were all going to be shooting the same wedding out in San Francisco, CA (Eric was filming the video and our friends were shooting the photos). He said that it would be fun if I tagged along for the weekend, and made a little vacation out of the trip. Once I agreed to join them out in CA for the weekend, our friends asked us if we would be willing to do a sunrise photo shoot for them at Yosemite so that they could put it on their photography website. Sunrise sounded super early to be photographed, but we agreed that it would be a cool experience. Plus I had never been to Yosemite before! Little did I know that Eric had been planning this whole thing with them from the start! We woke up around 4 a.m. on October 30th, and drove the 2 hours to Glacier Point at Yosemite. We began doing the photo shoot, and I didn’t think anything of it as our friends were telling us how to pose and what to do. They asked us to move to a more secluded spot as more tourists started to arrive, and we continued taking photos. Then, as the sun began to rise over Half Dome, Eric turned to me and said he had to ask me something. He got down on one knee and I begin to cry as I realized what was happening!
He had the sweetest, most meaningful proposal speech and our amazing friends captured the entire thing. We now have beautiful photos from this life-changing moment and I can’t believe what a perfect proposal Eric planned!
