How We Met
We actually met through mutual friends initially but i was in a relationship with someone else so I really didn’t think much about him (other than how kind he was). I always remembered him though because he was the only other Canadian around my age group in Naples. After my previous relationship ended, we saw each other at a happy hour and it was the first time that we really sat and talked at length. It was during that conversation that I knew I was going to marry him. I fell in love with him that day. Funny enough, I had to leave the happy hour early to meet a few friends downtown for dinner, but we weren’t ready to stop talking to each other, so we met up after my dinner for drinks. I ended up telling him about my plans to take my mom to the Everblades hockey playoffs the next day. Josh made it his mission to get us incredible seats and then came with us and met my mom the very next day! The way he treated her, I knew he was the one for me.
How They Asked
In 2018, Josh planned a trip to NYC right before Christmas. If you did not know, I AM OBSESSED with the spirit of Christmas. For someone that loved Christmas as much as I did, he insisted we go and see the Rockefeller tree. I was totally in awe. I do believe that trip really solidified our love and that we were going to dive in 100%. There is nothing like the Christmas season in NYC so he mentioned going there again in December 2019 to make it one of our traditions. That past summer, I launched Hertz’s marketing initiative for 2019 and traveled almost every week for 8 months! I WAS DONE TRAVELING but he reminded me how much I loved it and it would be a nice getaway before Christmas. I reluctantly agreed. That Friday morning, we decided on walking around Central Park and he mentioned that night would be the best night to see the Tree. So we got ready for the day and off we went. We explored Central Park, stopped at an Italian restaurant for some vino and apps then made our way to Rockefeller Center. He made his way up to the very front of the tree (like he did the year before) and we admired the beauty of the most spectacular Christmas tree. The Saks 5th Ave light show music started which captured my attention so I looked to the right. When I looked back at Josh, HE WAS DOWN ON ONE KNEE holding out the most beautiful ring I have ever seen. It felt like the whole world paused when he asked me to marry him. I won’t get into the details of the speech BUT it was perfect. Not one ounce of me was expecting to get engaged that trip. He was so cool, calm and collected all day. He then arranged an evening at The Plaza hotel to sip champagne and celebrate. The whole trip was pure perfection.
