Marriage Proposal Ideas in Lombok, Indonesia

How We Met

In February 2006 we met during a night out and I can say, it was love at first sight! After a number of dates it became more fun and serious between us. In 2009 we bought a house together where we went to live with our dog Mylo. Now, 13.5 years later we still live here with our now elderly Mylo. But we´ve been quite busy recent years. Our family has expanded further. And how! Our handsome son Liam was born in 2014 and our little princess Nica in 2017.

How They Asked

Woaww! How did he ask?

All vacations and special occasions in recent years I secretly hoped. I had almost given up my hope.

Last summer we left The Netherlands to our favorite holiday continent Asia. We arrived in Singapore, where we had 2 nights before we flew to Lombok, Indonesia. We had booked the same hotel on Lombok where we had been with just the two of us in 2010 and now we are returning with four.

The days passed and I did not notice the plans that Bas had. On Thursday, July 11th, the time had come. We had made a 3 day trip to Gili Trawangan and in the morning we returned to Lombok.

While relaxing in the pool with our kids, Bas went for a “nap”, he said. Not much later I received an WhatsApp message that the day was going to take an unexpected turn and I had to be ready at 5.15 pm for a romantic dinner for 4, this because it was my birthday 2 weeks earlier, .

At 5.15 pm we walked to a beautiful location on the beach where we could see the sunset not much later. We arrived at a table surrounded by flowers which were laid out in the shape of a heart around the table in the sand. Candles, flowers, everything was arranged to perfection. After a drink the moment was there. In the presence of our children he asked me to stand and then he went down on one knee …

Of course I said YEEEEESSSSS!

He also appeared to have arranged that secret photos were made of the proposal, so that we have lasting memories of this wonderful moment!
