Angela and Tim
How We Met
Tim and I both grew up in Arizona, however we did not encounter each other until we were in our freshman year of college in California. He played soccer at Vanguard University and I was studying visual communications at FIDM. My good guy friend (and fellow soccer teammate of Tim’s) were spending the day at Laguna Beach when Tim decided to meet up with us, and that was our first encounter. We became fast friends and the three of us spent tons of time together over the years. For years our friendship was totally platonic and he eventually ended up moving back to Phoenix while I stayed in California for four more years. Fate would eventually bring us back together and change our story :)
how they asked
Tim and I absolutely love the Gaines’ of Fixer Upper and Magnolia Farms. We relate to them on so many levels from our faith stories, our personal interests, the dynamic we share with one another as a couple, and not to mention Joanna and I are basically twins. For months, Tim was quietly planning a surprise trip for us to Waco, Texas to visit the infamous Silos at Magnolia. I was told to simply go to the airport and had no idea where my destination would be. While I had many guesses for the final destination, and was cautiously hopeful a proposal might occur, I could never have imagined it would unfold in such a perfect way. After a late night flight to Dallas followed by a two hour drive to Waco, I was like a delirious kid showing up to Disneyland. Tim warned that we had a very early morning and would only be able to sleep for a handful of hours but I didn’t mind, I could not wait to finally see Magnolia! It was a rainy Saturday and Tim made sure we were up and ready by 7:30am and on our way to Magnolia. As soon as we arrived and started walking onto the grounds I cried simply our of happiness, being there with him was already perfect and everything I could ask for. Since it was so early the stores were not actually open yet and we had the grounds practically to ourselves, but I assumed we were going early to Magnolia Table to get in line for breakfast. Finally, we ended up in Joanna’s Garden and the tears ramped back up because it was so perfect and beautiful, again, I just couldn’t believe we were finally there. Tim walked me into the garden, turned to me, and took me by both hands, and it was there that I knew what was happening. Cue the sobbing. Tim stumbled his way through his beautiful speech, I cried, he fumbled the ring box out of his sock, I laughed and cried, and then he got down on one knee, and I sobbed. 8am in the morning, in Joanna’s Garden with my best friend, and engaged! It was the most perfect day of my entire life. AND he had his sister and her husband drive down from Oklahoma to photograph and video the entire thing. They were dressed in disguises and had ensured to keep the garden clear of people so that we could enjoy some privacy. Magnolia helped us celebrate the remainder of the day and our experience there could not have been any better.
