How We Met: His step mom use to babysit me and my siblings when we were younger. His younger step-sister and my younger sister have been best friends for the past 13 years. My mom and his step mom have been trying to get us together forever, but we had to do it on our own not be forced together. After I graduated high school, we ended up working together at a store that was right down the street from our neighborhood. When I would have to work until 11-12 at night, he would either drive or walk up to the store and drive/walk me home to make sure that I was safe. We started texting each other and talking to each other after work. February of 2012 a few days after Valentine’s day we were walking to my house and that is when he asked me out. To this day he still gives me butterflies and makes me feel like a little kid. I never would have thought that the man that I would marry and grow old with would be the little boy that I had a crush on when I was younger. It really is a dream come true.
how they asked: We went to Pittsburgh where his mom lives to spend Christmas with her and his grandparents. It was a couple of days before Christmas. I was sitting on the couch at his mom’s house, wearing sweatpants, no makeup.. I was really comfortable. He came downstairs and was talking to himself saying “Should I do it now or should I wait?” I asked him what he was talking about and he said that he was just going to do it. So as I was sitting on the couch he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. He pulled out the ring that was his mom’s from her wedding and was his in great grandmothers jewelry box. I said yes of course. The ring wasn’t completely my style, so we decided to change the style when we got home.
