How We Met
On August 21, 2011, James and I both attended the “Identity Festival” at Nikon Jones Beach. Somehow, out of thousands of people, we found each other. The next day, James messaged me on Facebook and we’ve been talking ever since. After several years of long distance communication, we went on our first official date on July 31, 2015.
How They Asked
James and I discussed planning a vacation to Europe months ago. Neither of us have ever been there so we wanted our first trip to Europe to be special and memorable. After extensive research and planning, we decided to travel and explore France, especially the beautiful city of Paris.
On the morning of August 5th, 2019, James had planned for us to go to breakfast and he made reservations for 8:30 a.m. After being jet lagged, walking so much the day before and staying out so late, I was exhausted and I did not want to wake up early. James said his work friend recommended this restaurant and he was very insistent on us going. When I finally got out of bed, he informed me that I needed to get “dressed up” because it was a formal restaurant. There I was half asleep at 7:00 a.m. and getting “dressed up” to go out for breakfast instead of sleeping in… As James and I were on our way, we walked passed the Parvis de Trocadero, which featured a spectacular view of the Eiffel Tower. Of course, I asked James to stop so we could take ANOTHER photo. We snapped a few pictures of each other and then I asked someone to take a picture of us together. After taking a few, this man introduced himself as a professional photographer and offered to take our photo. Soon after, James pulled a ring box out of his sock and he was on one knee asking me to marry him! In complete shock and tears in my eyes, I SAID YES!!!!! Little did I know, James hired this photographer to capture this special moment forever.
I’ve always thought about how I would want to be proposed to. James surpassed any dream I could’ve ever imagined it to be. I got engaged to the love of my life in the most romantic city in the world!
