How We Met
Tina and I met through friends in January of 2015. Our first date consisted of a candlelit dinner at an Italian restaurant called Tre Bicchieri in Columbus, Indiana. During the date, an instant connection formed and a friendship blossomed. Over the next eight months, our friendship grew, eventually leading to a relationship. In September of 2015, we started dating and learning that the more we learned about each other, the greater our feelings grew. Over the next year, our relationship became stronger and our love for one another became evident.
how they asked
After getting the blessing from Tina’s parents to marry her, I told her that I wanted to take her on a weekend getaway. On September 09, 2016, we went to Isle of Palms, South Carolina. I selected Isle of Palms for a couple of reasons. First, I wanted to take her to a romantic spot along the East Coast that neither of us had been before. Secondly, I wanted the scenery to be as beautiful as she is to me and for her to remember it for the rest of her life. Finally, the area is home to some of her favorite movies…The Notebook, Dear John, etc. During the evening of September 10, 2016, with the sun beginning to go down, the air crisp and the ocean calm, I told her that I would like to take a walk with her along the beach before going to dinner.
What she did not know at the time, was earlier in the evening, I finalized plans with videographer, Matthew Suchodolski (Paragon Filmworks) and photographer, Gillian Ellis, and they were going to be hidden near the beach while Tina and I went on a “walk”. After Tina and I started walking for a bit, I told her I wanted to take a picture of her taking a picture of the sunset. She agreed and although she took a picture of the sunset, I did not take any pictures.
While her back was to me, I waited a few seconds, took a few steps towards her, got down on one knee and then waited for her to turn around.
Our lives have never been the same since.
