How We Met
Andrew and I are high school sweethearts. We met our junior year of high school. We had a few classes together but didn’t really say much to each other. The both us had mutual friends and because of that we started seeing each other a lot more out of school. One night, we started talking and instantly clicked. It was so easy for me to talk to him. I knew he was the one for me. I remember telling my mom that he was the one that I was going to marry. But she kept telling me not to ruin the great friendship that we had. Of course I didn’t listen. I told him the feelings I had for him and surprisingly he felt the exact same way. Since then things have been nothing but amazing! We became a family and now have the most precious 3 year old son, Gavin. We did things a little backwards but that’s okay. I can’t wait to marry not only my soul mate but my best friend.
how they asked
We booked a weekend getaway in Chicago. Andrew works full time and I’m a stay at home mom. So we decided it would be nice to have a little “us” time in the city. Of course when we book the trip, I thought that maybe this was the weekend it would happen but I didn’t want to get my hopes up. We arrived at our hotel early and couldn’t check in yet. So we decided to explore our beautiful city. Andrew asked if I wanted to walk on the river walk along the Chicago River, and of course we did. He seemed kind of nervous but I didn’t really think anything of it. We walked along the river for about a half hour when he asked if I wanted to go to the Bean. We turned around and started walking back when he pulled me aside and got down on one knee. I was in complete shock. I couldn’t believe it was actually happening. It was everything that I dreamed about. Andrew always wanted our proposal to be private, so it was just the two of on the river walk.
